The mission of the University Police department is to support the educational mission of ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ by maintaining a safe campus environment conducive to learning through law enforcement, utilizing evidence-based strategies to reduce crime on campus, and providing crime prevention and safety education to the campus community.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ Police Authority

The University Police Department comes under the charge of the Student Affairs Department of Vice President Dr. Cynthia Polk-Johnson. All University Police police officers are commissioned law enforcement officers armed with service weapons and have COMPLETE ARREST AUTHORITY in accordance with TCA-49-7-118 and Tennessee Peace Officer authorizations established by the Tennessee Code Annotated.  University Police also employs noncommissioned officers who provide additional safety and security services.

LT running radarÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ police officers have the same authority as that of municipal law enforcement officers while on property owned by ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ, on adjacent public streets and sidewalks, and in nearby neighborhoods. University police officers have direct radio communications with neighboring law enforcement agencies, Cookeville Fire Department,  Putnam County EMS, and Putnam County Emergency Management Agency to facilitate rapid response in any emergency situation.
